Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 22, 2013

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") provides information on how Alohar Mobile Inc. ("Alohar" or "we") handles your privacy. It describes the information that we collect about you as a user of our applications, including PlaceUs, Placeme and other applications that may be released (collectively “Apps”), our platform that allows the persistent detection of motion and understanding of the places a user visits with their mobile phone (“Services”), how we handle your personal information, how the information is used, and the choices that you have.

Please read this Policy carefully before you provide us with any personal information, install any Apps, or use any Alohar Services. For a Web version of this and other Alohar policies, please visit, or (“Websites”).

User Account Created by You

When using Alohar's Websites, Apps, and Services you will need to create a personal user account, with a user name, to use our Service, download Apps, and/or receive support (“Account”). When you create an Account, we ask you to give us a valid email address that we can use to contact you regarding use of the Alohar Services. This will allow us to provide a better level of support and give you an easy way to transfer your App data to another mobile or web device in the future. Your email address, name, mobile phone number, username, password, and photos, are defined as personally identifiable information (“PII”) in this Policy.

Third Party App Developers

Alohar provides its Services to third party app developers (“App Developers”) that may use the Alohar Service in providing its applications to you.  App Developers are required to create an account with the App Developer’s name, email address, company name, and company location. We use this information to contact App Developers in providing our Services.

Location Data That We Collect and Use

The Service and Apps detect and use your location in order to provide the Service to you. If you use the Service or Apps, Alohar may receive and store information about your actual location and motions (such as GPS and motion signals sent by your mobile device) or information that can be used to approximate a location (such as a Wi-Fi network). We refer to this type of data as “Location Data” throughout this Policy. The information we receive and store may include your present location, as well as historical data about where you have been.

The Apps remember the places you visit or geographic points you pass, by running in the background and collecting location data whenever your mobile device is ON, even if you switch to another application or navigate away to the mobile device's home screen or other screens or pages.  When this data is stored on the device and transmitted to the Alohar servers, it is encrypted.

How to Stop Location Tracking

You can stop or pause the Location Data tracking at any time.  Each App has a "Log-Off" and “Pause” button that allows you to control Location Data tracking.  In the event that you “Pause” Location Data tracking, you can still use and navigate around the App, but the App will not be collecting and storing Location Data.  In the event you Log-Off, the App will no longer function and will not collect Location Data.  It is important to consider that the longer the Apps are running, the more complete the data will be which will create a better overall user experience.

Other Information We May Gather through Cookies and Web Beacons
